Lake City--Arabelle Lydia (Krueger) Turner, 95, formerly of Lake City, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Northcare Hospice House, North Kansas City, Missouri.  Funeral services were held on Saturday, February 25 at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Lake City.  Reverend Pastor Paul Federer officiated and burial was in Lake City Cemetery.

Arabelle was born on November 5, 1921 to Herman and Louisa (Reaman) Krueger in Sac County Iowa. She was baptized, confirmed and later married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Coon Valley Township Iowa. After graduating from Sac City High School she attended Iowa State Teachers College and graduated with a teaching certificate in 1941. She taught elementary school in Jefferson and Lake City, Iowa until she married A.W. (Pete) Turner on June 23, 1946.

After her marriage, she was a substitute school teacher for many years. In 1968 she started working for Calhoun Mutual Insurance and retired in 1986. Pete and Arabelle wintered in Texas for many years.

Arabelle was very active in Pilgrim Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher, ladies aid and choir member. Her community activities included many years as a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. She was a charter member of the Stewart Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the GFWC Woman’s Monday Club. In 1974 Pete and Arabelle hosted Suyapa Prudot, an AFS student from Honduras.  Arabelle remained very active in AFS for many years thereafter.

Arabelle is survived by her son Dennis of Fairmont MN, daughter-in-law Teri of Charles City, IA, daughters Jan of Kansas City MO and Dr. Suyapa Prudot of Honduras; grandchildren Mike Turner (Laura) and their daughters Rylie and Chase of Liberty, MO, Chad Turner (Heather) of Waterloo IA, Pat Turner and his children Jade and Jarrett of Chicago, IL, Ryan Turner (Yvonne) and their sons Chris James and Kaiden of Overland Park, KS, Kelli Turner of Denver, CO, and Brian Both (Andrea) and their sons Ezra and Arlo of Kansas City, MO; and sister-in-law Marion (Krueger) Dettman of Lytton.

Arabelle was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Louisa Krueger, her younger brother Dale Krueger, her husband Pete, daughter-in-law Sharon Turner, son Ronald Turner and sister Eunice Downs.

Memorials are preferred to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Lake City IA.
