Lake City – Todd Watters, 53, died Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating. A private family burial was held in the Lake City Cemetery.
Toddson Scott Watters was born on September 24, 1963, in Lake City, Iowa to Reginald and LaVonne “Bonnie” (Lohmeier) Watters. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1982 and then from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelors Degree of Science in Education. Todd worked in various positions throughout the years at the family business, Watters Appliance Center, in Lake City, Carroll, and Pocahontas.
Todd was an avid reader, especially books on history, politics, and sports. He never missed watching the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball games and he also enjoyed watching Iowa State and UNI games as well as the Kansas City Chiefs.
He was extremely proud of his nephews, Jeremy and Kyle, and enjoyed every moment he spent with them.
For years, Todd fought Myotonic Dystrophy with courage and dignity and he was the most caring and forgiving person.
Todd is survived by his mother Bonnie Watters of Lake City, sister Sherris (Ted) Hjelmeland of Riceville, and nephews Jeremy Hjelmeland of Coralville and Kyle Hjelmeland of Dodge City, KS. He was preceded in death by his father Reginald Watters and nephew Benjamin Hjelmeland.
