Lake City – Bernard Holm, 94, died Monday, June 19, 2017, in Lake City. Funeral services was held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Lake City Union Church in Lake City with Pastor Beth Harbaugh officiating and burial was in the Lake City Cemetery.
Bernard L. Holm was born on February 27, 1923, on the family farm north of Lake City, Iowa to Andrew and Anna Marie (Bystrom) Holm. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1940. On November 21, 1942, Bernard married Bernadine Yepsen in Omaha, Nebraska, and together the couple celebrated 72 years of marriage before Bernadine’s death in 2014. Bernard worked as a farmer all his life, and throughout the years he also worked at the Sherwood Elevator, Bowie Manufacturing, and the Lake City Veterinary Clinic. He was a member of the Lake City Union Church, Masonic Lodge, Top Rail Saddle Club, and he was a past 4H leader.
Bernard is survived by his daughter Carol (Dick) Finley of Rockwell City, daughter-in-law Kathy Holm of Lake City, 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bernadine, son Gary, and brothers and sisters, Mabel Clark, George Holm, Esther Dillivan, Evelyn DeHart, Elmer Holm, Mildred Bean, Leona Studdard, Clifford Holm, Harold Holm, Bernice Clary, and Merle Holm.
Memorial may be left to the discretion of the family.
