Nora Blanchfield, 104, died Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. Graveside services were held on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Lake City Cemetery.
Nora Belle (Powell) Blanchfield was born on August 12, 1913 at home in Milford, Iowa to Robert and Lillian (Dunaway) Powell. On November 26, 1931 she married Phineas Blanchfield in Yankton, SD. Nora worked as a nurse’s aide for over 30 years at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. She was awarded Lake City Employee of the year in 1978 and she worked until she was 75 years old.
Nora spent the last 16 years in Minneapolis, the last 14 years in Park Health & Rehabilitation in St. Louis Park, MN. She was loved by staff and residents. Everyone wanted to be like her when they got older. They loved her sense of humor and spunk.
Nora is survived by her sons Paul (Karen) of Clarkston, MI, Dale (Carol) of Hopkins, MN and Jere (Teresa) of Minneapolis, MN, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jack, brothers and sisters, and twin granddaughters.
