Lake City—Lois Hensel, 96, died Friday, July 20, 2018 at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City. Funeral services were held Monday, July 23 at the Lake City Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Ferderer officiating. Burial was held Tuesday, July 24 at Oaklawn Cemetery, Auburn.
Lois Hensel was born on March 4, 1922 in Ulmer, Iowa to Leonard and Stella (Kent) Hicks. She graduated from Auburn High School on May 18, 1939. On June 14, 1941 Lois married Oscar Hensel in Mankato, MN. She worked as a housewife and cake baker and decorator for 40 years. Lois was also an avid owl collector. She was a member of the Lake City Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Ladies Aid.
Lois is survived by her daughters Dixie Dingman of Greenfield, Darla (Tom) Stickrod of Lohrville and Diane (James) Wagner of Winona, MN; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar, infant daughter DeLayne, son Dale, brother Donald Hicks and sister Naomi Walton.
