Margaret (Mardyce) Clark
Springfield, MN – Margaret Lois (Mardyce) Pittman Clark, 97, formerly of Lake City, Iowa, died Friday, August 31, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Lake City Union Church. Burial was in the Lake City Cemetery preceding the service.
The only child of Earl and Anna (Nokes) Pittman, Mardyce was born March 10, 1921. After graduating from Lake City High School in 1939 she was employed by the telephone company in Lake City, the Calhoun County Ration Board in Rockwell City, and the Army in Chicago. On January 20, 1946, she and Loren Clark were united in marriage making their home on the Clark farm east of Lake City where she enjoyed the responsibilities of being a farm wife. Their home was blessed by the adoption of two children, Janice and Ronald D.
During the 1950s and 60s she directed the choir of the Lake City Woodlawn Church and her beautiful voice was heard at many weddings, funerals and other events. In 1959 Mardyce joined the staff of the Lake City Community Schools as school board secretary for the next 16 years. In 1976 she accepted a part-time position in the office of Bowie Mfg. Co. for approximately ten years.
She was busy in her retirement as an active member in P.E.O., American Legion Auxiliary, Lake City Union Church, hospital auxiliary and enjoyed being with her family.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Earl and Anna (Nokes) Pittman, and husband, Loren. Survivors include her daughter and husband, Jan and Dick Eilders of Springfield, MN; son and wife Ronald and Jeanne Clark of Tomball, TX, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Mardyce requested no flowers; instead memorials may be left to the Lake City Union Church or the Lake City Public Library.
