Lake View – Roger Basler, 81, died Wednesday, January 9, 2019.
Roger Delane Basler was born on January 15, 1937 in Carroll, Iowa to Clarence and Dolores (Breetzke) Basler. On August 31, 1956, Roger married Elizabeth Bishop and to this union three children were born; Sonya, David and Jorjanne (Janna). The couple later divorced. Roger married Marsha Alexander on June 26, 1976 in San Clemente, CA. Roger worked as a Fireman and Paramedic in LA County in California for 22 years; he then worked in Real Estate until they moved back to the farm in Iowa in 1979. After returning to Iowa Roger drove a school bus for many years for the Lake View School system and Marsha enjoyed working in the libraries in both Auburn and Lake View.
Roger is survived by his children: David (Laurie) Basler of Mojave Valley, AZ, Janna (Delmar) Reiling of Lake View, IA, Marlys (Mark) Josefesen of Murrieta, CA and Kevin (Irina) Alexander of Huntington Beach, CA; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Brittney (Kevan) Keough and their children Kensington and Connor of Spokane, WA, Cody (Nina) Basler of Los Angeles, CA, Sean Reiling (Audrey Klein) and daughter Addie Vander Mullen of Ankeny, IA, Tomas Reiling of St. Louis, MO, Taylor (Vincent) of CA, Brody (Marion) Josefesen and son Kaden of Murrieta, CA, and Kyle Alexander of Huntington Beach, CA; and sister Phyllis Toyne of Lake Forest, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marsha in 2017, daughter Sonya in 2018, and sisters Sandra Baxter and Donna Basler.
Funeral services celebrating the lives of Roger and Marsha who died on August 11, 2017 in St. George, UT will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Lampe Funeral Home and burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Auburn.
