Richard "Dick" Subbert
Lanesboro – Richard “Dick” Subbert, 78, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 11 at Lanesboro United Methodist Church with burial in the Lanesboro Cemetery.
Dick Subbert was born on July 29, 1940 in Halbur, IA to Rudolph and Helen (Davis) Subbert. On March 23, 1963 he married Janet Axe in Omaha, NE. Dick worked as a bank teller at Omaha National until 1971. He then became the owner and operator of Dick’s Place in Lanesboro for 25 years until 1996. After selling Dick’s Place he went and dealt craps for Harvey’s Casino in Council Bluffs for 10 years. Dick played slow pitch softball for many years and became a manager, owner, and umpire for the Carroll County Men’s Slow Pitch Softball and was honored to be inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was also a past member of the Lanesboro Fire Department and city council. Dick loved to play euchre and loved nothing more than to support and cheer on his grandkids.
Dick is survived by his wife Janet of Lanesboro, children Chris (Erika) Subbert of Williamsburg, VA, Kelly (Brad) Addison of Lanesboro and Kevin (Michelle) Subbert of Ellendale, MN; grandchildren Corey (Abby) Bluml, Bailey (Ben) Schroeder, Samantha Subbert, Dylan Addison, Trey Subbert, Mackenzie Addison, Hallie Subbert, Abigail Subbert, Courtnee Subbert, Kailyn Subbert and Tylar Subbert; great-grandchildren Brody Schroeder, Kayson Schroeder, Leo Bluml and Avery Schroeder; brother Romayne (Oletta) Subbert of North Platte, NE; sister Jeannie (Gordy) Toyne of Lanesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Gosch and brother-in-law Roger Gosch.
