Auburn – Lois Pudenz, 90, died Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, January 3, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn. Celebrant was Fr. Lynn Bruch and burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Auburn.
Lois Ann (Kutz) Pudenz was born on September 21, 1929 in Sherman Township, Calhoun County, Iowa to Walter and Anna Josephine (Halfmann) Kutz. She graduated from High School in 1949. On August 24, 1949, Lois married Cletus Pudenz at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City and together they celebrated 66 years of marriage before Cletus’ death in 2015. She was a member of St. Mary’s Alter Society and Chat-n-Sew Card Club.
Lois lived to love and nurture her family. She enjoyed being a farmer’s wife, the outdoors, roller skating, and basketball, especially girls 6 on 6. She volunteered her time on various church committees, as a Girl Scout leader and a Village Square Theater member.
Lois is survived by her sons Dave (Nancy) of Auburn, Marvin (Kristi) of Auburn, and Melvin of Lake City; daughters Annette (Kevin) Koster of Breda and Carolyn (Rick) Hoffman of Templeton; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Linus (Myrna Jean) Pudenz of Auburn; sisters-in-law Alice Pudenz of Odebolt, Delores Kutz of Lake City and Leota Adamson of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Cletus; son Warren; daughter Joleen Pudenz-Daiker; grandson-in-law Chad Lenz; great-grandson in infancy Charlie Schwarzkopf; brother Dick Kutz; sisters Clara (Wilber “Bus”) Miller and Helen (Charles “Bud”) Devitt; and brothers-in-law Don Pudenz and Bob Adamson.
