Lake City – Dick Lamberty, 86, died Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City surrounded by his family. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Lake City Union Church with Pastor Randy Russom officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Richard Frank Lamberty was born on April 11, 1933, in Carroll, Iowa, to Joseph and Bertha (Bonham) Lamberty. He graduated from Westview High School in Lake City in 1951 with his future wife, Beverly McCaulley. They married on October 4, 1951 and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage. He joined the United States Army in 1956, serving at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After returning to Iowa, Dick worked at John Deere in Lake City as a mechanic then for Green Line in Sac City. After retiring, Dick couldn't stand to not be out mingling with his friends in the community so he decided to work for Super Valu/Lake City Food Center. He worked there for 15 years and the owners said the days Dick worked were always their greatest sales days. Dick and Bev fostered children for 19 years and his children and grandchildren were the most important part of his life. He was a member of the Lake City American Legion and served as secretary for many years, he also served as President of the Lions Club and was on the city council in Lake City.
Dick is survived by his wife Bev of Lake City; children Richard “Rex Rusher” Lamberty of Minneapolis, MN, Leona Davis of Denver, CO, Kathleen (Chris) Prima of Clarksville, TN, Dora (James) Ludley of Oxford Junction, IA and special granddaughter Heather (Scott) Anderson of Manson; 9 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Shawn; sister Helen Kelly; brother Joseph Lamberty and an infant brother.
