Lake City – Randy Tasler, 65, died Friday, May 1, 2020 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Due to restrictions on gatherings from the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a public memorial at a later date when larger gatherings are allowed.
Randy Paul Tasler was born on January 4, 1955, in Lake City, Iowa, to Donald and Lorinda (Pearson) Tasler. He served in the United States Air Force following high school and on June 27, 1982, Randy married Vicki Ford in Lake City. He worked as an agronomist before his retirement.
Randy was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed his yearly fishing trips with his brothers and friends. He always loved a good joke and would love to share them, even if he seldom told them right.
Randy could visit with anyone and would make a new friend anywhere he would go. Randy was very proud of his granddaughters and spent many days babysitting and entertaining them, whether he was playing lobster claw or letting them give him a makeover.
Randy loved old cars and great music, from The Animals to his favorite, The Beatles. Randy always said he wanted “Spirit In The Sky” by Norman Greenbaum played at his funeral.
Randy will be remembered by those that love him as someone who was selfless, always up for a good time, and above all a fighter.
Randy is survived by his wife Vicki of Lake City; children Anthony Tasler of Ankeny, Jamie Stone of Lake City, and Jordan (Jereme) Waters and their children Jasey and Jaggar of Lake City; brothers and sisters Marge (Roger) Griffith of Audubon, Lori (Vaughn) Bauer of Paton, Tina (Tracey) Wierke of Farmington, MN, Steve Tasler of Churdan, Ron (Marilyn) Tasler of Jefferson, Kim Tasler of Churdan and Jay (Marcia) Tasler of Churdan; mother-in-law Delores Ford of Lake City; brother-in-law Dave (Cindy) Ford of Lake City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Lorinda Tasler and father-in-law Charles Ford.
