Lake City – Marjorie Walters, 99, died Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City. Graveside services were held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Evergreen Cemetery in Lohrville.
Marjorie Mae (Merritt) Walters was born, May 17, 1921 on a farm south of Lanesboro, Iowa. She was one of seven children born to Roy D. and Maude Mae (Kellams) Merritt. She attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Lanesboro high school as a member of the class of 1940.
She spent much of the 1940’s working in various rodeo based businesses including the families Circle Double M rodeo enterprise. She married Beryl V. Dial in 1949 and they had one son. They farmed in the Lohrville, IA area for approximately 20 years. Beryl passed away in 1970.
In 1972 she married Delbert Walters of Lake City, IA. They were married for 38 years and farmed in the Yetter area for approximately 30 years before moving to Lake City. Delbert passed away in 2010.
Throughout her life she enjoyed outdoor activities whether working on the farm, fishing, gardening, golf, etc. She was active participant in numerous organizations including, Woodlawn Christian Church, Lohrville Methodist church, Eastern Star, Lake City Country Club, Stewart Memorial Hospital volunteers, a variety of card clubs, etc.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and her brother, husbands Beryl and Delbert, a step daughter Nancy Picht of Audubon, IA and a step son Doug Walters of Sioux City, IA. She is survived by a sister Ruth Olson of Webster City, IA, a son Marty Dial of Omaha, NE, step daughter Carol Eisner of Lloyd’s Neck, NY, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
